Gavin is officially done with first grade! Can you believe it!? And baseball is almost over. Just one more game! We had the end of season trophy party today. I tried to get a good picture of Gavin with his trophy...You can see how well that worked out! Little nut!
Today I need a picture of "Subaru NOT Go"! Ha! (See previous post.) Bryan woke me up at 4:00 yesterday morning, as that's when he needed to leave for work, to tell me that the car wouldn't start so he had to take the van to work! Of course, after that I couldn't get back to sleep! I couldn't stop thinking about how I was going to get Gavin to school, and from school, and to baseball, etc. When I finally did fall back asleep, I dreamt about it! I did get it all worked out, with the help of many people! (Thank you, all!) Today, the boys and I got up and took Bryan to work at 6:00 am, so that I wouldn't be stranded all day, again! (The boys in their bathrobes and me with my coffee! I don't see 6am very often. Or, never!) Bryan was actually quite giddy! He got his brand new work truck last night (PTL!) so he was excited to show it off to us this morning! (Gavin said it was shiny!) I'm so happy for him! He has really put in his time in some terrible, run down, broken all the time, trucks! He really deserves this and I hope he will be blessed by it and in it! Go, B!
P.S. I really hope I put the picture of the right truck! If not, Bryan can change it later. I know that isn't his actual truck...I got to see his truck this morning, and it is very cool...and shiny!
I can't believe Gavin only has four and a half days of school left! Four and half days left of the commute to and from school! Of course, half of that time is spent driving one handed as one hand is always reaching back to hand off a juice box or a Kleenex or a piece of gum... (Or to retrieve a used juice box or Kleenex or piece of gum! Moms, you know how it is!) Yesterday on the ride home from school I made the mistake of announcing to the boys that I had the hiccups! So, all the way home they had to take turns growling at me to try to scare my hiccups away! And, of course, it didn't take long for the, "It's my turn to scare her!" "You had 3 turns!" "Stop it!" And then there's me, "Sto-(hick) STOP ARGUING! (hick)" Then, out of nowhere, Gavin kicks the back of my seat..."Did I scare you?"
Another van story... So, I like the song "Beautiful" by James Blunt, so I checked out his CD, "Back to Bedlam", from the library the other day. (I've recently become addicted to checking things out from the library, but that is a story for another day! Albeit, an exciting one! Ha!) Anyway, so I'm riding along in the van with Trevor, cranking the CD and the song, "Beautiful", and it gets to the part that says, "she could see on my face, that I was, flying high..." (Right. I never really thought about the lyrics until that moment, but not really the point of the story.) Apparently, on the CD, instead of "flying" he says another choice "F" word! Imagine my surprise! Ha! I'm sure Trevor didn't notice, but I sure did! Goodness! It really seems highly unnecessary to me, and ruins an otherwise lovely song! Oh well. Who am I... At least I now know where it is so I can keep one hand on the volume and turn it down at just the right moment! And I think we've established that I'm an accomplished one handed driver!
Gavin's last field trip of first grade was yesterday...And I got to chaperone! It was very fun! (I had chaperoned all of Trevor's field trips, but none of Gavin's! Let's just say, that didn't go unnoticed!) This trip was to cap off their study of mammals. The kids just finished with their written and oral book reports last week. Gavin chose to do his report on lions! He did such a great job! He got 100%; A++!!! Unfortunately, by the time we found the real lions at the zoo, it was nap time (for the lions). Yes, I was in charge of the map. (Bryan, you can keep your comments to yourself! Ha!) This statue of "Aslan" (of course!) seemed to make him quite happy, though! All in all, it was a glorious day! We couldn't have asked for nicer weather, either!
I was telling Bryan, a while back, that it must be so fun to be a kid and look forward to fun field trips! You see, I grew up in Wyoming... My field trip excitement consisted of an annual trip to the planetarium (which I actually did enjoy), a bus ride to the Oregon Trail (basically, a big field with wagon wheel tracks running through it), and of course, the hill in which Custer had his Last Stand! (Now, go find a rock to sit on and eat your sack lunch!) So, kids, enjoy these field trips and the memories you're creating! They're priceless!
I love this picture of Gavin! Like father like son! I like to look at the animals and then move quickly on to the next exhibit! (Ok...It's a gorilla! Moving on!) Gavin, like his dad, wants to stop and read all of the signs! Ha!
Trevor's last T-ball game was last night. The sun came out in the afternoon, just long enough to dry out the fields so the coaches could say, "Game on"! They got one inning into the game (both of the boys had games) and it started to totally downpour! We were drenched! So, they called the game and we moved under the cover for the end-of-season party! All of the kids get a trophy, but I'd have to say, Trevor's should be for "best behavior in the dug-out"! Ha! (And Cami, too!) Man, those kids can be a handful! As you can see, he thoroughly enjoyed his blue cupcake. He was really having a hard time giving me a normal smile! He's still cute, though...Cheesy grin, blue lips, and all!
I thought I'd take advantage of one of the last times the boys have a game on the same day, to get a picture of them together in their baseball stuff! Sadly, Gavin's game got rained out. (I know. We, too, were wondering how G's game got rained out and T's didn't..? It's a quandary!) That might happen again today, by the looks of it! Today is suppose to be Trevor's last game, though! We will wait and see, I suppose! I was "kicking myself" yesterday, as it was the one time I didn't take my camera to a game, and Trevor played catcher! He was SO cute!!!! Oh well. I think someone else may have gotten a picture for me. I'll keep ya posted!
Well, we got to spend the weekend cleaning the house and doing laundry! Gavin came down with the stomach flu Friday night, through Sunday morning! He ended up sleeping on the floor, as it was the only place that wasn't covered in...well, you know. I'll spare you the details. Poor Bubba! He wasn't happy about having to miss his baseball game on Saturday and church on Sunday! (He hates to miss anything!) He is feeling better this morning, thankfully! (At least I hope so because I sent him to school!) It's "Grandparents' Day" at school today and he has been so excited for it! My mom, his "Nana", is going to be there and the kids will put on some sort of performance (I think he gets to be a "Yankee Doodle Dandy") and then they get to eat pizza together. It should be fun for them.
On Saturday night Bryan and I watched "Good Night, and Good Luck". It had some good acting and it was a well made movie, but we didn't really care for it. (I gave it three stars.) It was one of those movies that ended suddenly and you're like, "That's it?" Plus, a lot of it just went right over my head.
Last night Kim invited me to go with her to a friend's house to watch the season finale of Desperate Housewives! It was very fun to hang out and to have someone to watch it with! (Bryan doesn't watch any shows with me! He only watches sports! Actually, we will occasionally watch the History Channel or PBS together. Ha!) Too bad I don't have anyone to watch the ALIAS series finale with tonight! In case you didn't know, it is my all time favorite show! Fortunately, LOST is a close second, so I have something to fill the void when ALIAS is gone. (And, of course, Grey's Anatomy and Desperate Housewives!) So, I will have to settle for watching ALIAS by myself tonight and running to the computer to IM with Yvonne during commercials! Except that she's in Boston, so she will get to watch it 3 hours before I do! Maybe I can convince her to Tivo it so we can watch it together! So, if anyone calls me tonight between 9-11:00...I will not answer the phone! Ha!

Gavin had his spring concert last night and, as you can see, they had a farm theme going on. I think it was the best concert we've seen, yet! It was really fun and cute and upbeat! The funniest part was when they did "I want to Praise Him, Praise Him..!" to the music of "I want to move it, move it..!" (You know, from Madagascar?) Of course, they had hand movements, but when all of those kindergarten and first graders busted out in their own little versions of the robot dance...We were cracking up! Gavin did great and was obviously having fun! He had a big smile on his face the whole time! (You should have seen his face when he realized the kid playing the piano solo was playing Star Wars music!) AWESOME!
Aren't my irises beautiful?! (I'm not sure why there is an evergreen growing in the middle of them, but whatever.) These are the last of our flowers that refuse to die! Ha! When we bought our house, there were hundreds of flowers in the front and back yards. We just couldn't keep up with them, so we started taking them out. Our ultimate goal is to be rid of them all, plant grass everywhere, and then just get a couple of pots or baskets of flowers to tend to. In the mean time, I will enjoy my pretty irises that keep coming back despite my attempts to kill them off! Ha!
So, I finally went to the doctor today, after two weeks of dealing with a nasty chest cough! I didn't quite get the diagnosis I was expecting, but I guess that's why the doctor gets paid the big bucks, huh!? Apparently I have sinusitis! Go figure. Now I just have to get my prescription and hopefully I will be back to my normal self in no time! The first prescription he gave me was going to be $50! I said, "Um, no. Try again." (Not exactly in those words. Ha!) But seriously, they were able to find an alternative that's only $15 (There ya go!), so now I can go get it and be on my way to healthy! Praise the Lord!
I keep thinking that I don't have anything to blog about, but then I thought, the boys are always saying something funny or cleaver! So, here ya go...
Just this morning, Trevor asked me if "grown ups can pick their noses"! Ummm...how do you answer that? And, did he see a grown up picking his or her nose..?
The boys (especially Trevor) have really been into "Herbie" lately. So, they are constantly putting "racing gloves" on and racing each other. When we're driving in the van, they put their seats back and "race". Well, the way they determine who wins is by who has the most stuff coming out of the back of their car! "Well, I win because I have fire and steam and smoke and hotness and water and coldness and wetness..!" Ha!
Lastly, the boys and I were snuggled up on the couch, yesterday (I'm still a little "under the weather") and I was flipping channels, trying to find something to watch. When I got to QVC, I stopped because they were showcasing a beautiful diamond ring! I said, "Ooooo...that's pretty!" Gavin said, "Do you wish you had that ring?" I said, "Well, sure. I wouldn't mind having it. It's pretty!" Then he said, "But, are you thankful for the ring you do have?" Oh, sweetness! That lead to a wonderful discussion about my wedding ring and how special it is to me and our wedding day, etc! It was a sweet moment!
Even though I still am not well, I had a very blessed Mothers' Day! Little moments like the one I just shared are so special! I hope all of my mothers had a great day, too! (My mom, my mother-in-law and my step-mom!) They are all so precious and special to me in their own ways! I love you, Moms!!

Trevor's spring concert was last night. He was front and center, but he didn't sing a single word! He says he just doesn't like to sing! He just likes to do the hand motions and the clapping! (Which he did very well!) I guess he can follow in his dad's footsteps and become a drummer. He does have his rhythm! At least he doesn't get nervous up on stage like his brother used to! (He said he never gets nervous! Ha!) We were all suppose to bring a dessert for after the concert. Apparently, half the people stopped at QFC on their way there and picked up the same frosted sugar cookies! It was pretty funny. (By the way...Trevor was a caterpillar!)
As Yvonne so gently pointed out, I haven't posted anything in 5 days! Ha! (She just misses me and my stories.) I actually haven't felt very well the past couple days and therefore, I haven't really felt like being on the computer. At any rate, just to let you all know that I haven't forgotten that I have a blog...here is a picture of Gavin and two of his brothers! (Just kidding!) Kim and I joke about that because all of the boys look like they're related. This is Gavin, Sloan and Justice goofing around at Trevor and Cami's T-ball game.
So as not to disappoint, I will also tell you a story...
The other day at Gavin's game, Trevor was playing over by the dugout, when one of the kids in the dugout, noticing someone smaller than him, decided to start picking on him! I just watched from a distance to see how it would play out. (I think we all know that Trevor's no push over! He can take care of himself!) All of a sudden, out of nowhere, Gavin stepped between them with his arms spread wide! He got in the kids face and said, "LEAVE MY BROTHER ALONE!!!" Kim and I just looked at each other with our jaws dropped and said, "Did you see that? That was awesome!" (Those of you who know how well my boys "get along" will understand why it was so cool to see that!) I'm telling you, I was such a proud mom at that moment that it almost brought tears to my eyes!
So, there you have it! And for those of you who were going through withdrawals...Don't fret! I'm still here and I still have lots of stories to tell! Ha ha!
"Gavin the Great", as he was introduced, did some skateboard "tricks" for the school talent show, today! He did great! He was so cute and so proud of himself!
Goodness! I've fallen behind on my blogging! I will briefly give you the run down. Let's see... Friday morning I went to a "small group" from church that I was invited to. It was very lovely! Wonderful women that I hope to start getting to know better! Trevor had a great time playing with the kids, too! Friday night Bryan and I watched "Fun with Dick and Jane", which was HILARIOUS! There was at least one scene where Bryan was literally rolling on the floor laughing! Can you picture it? Saturday night the four of us had a movie night (which the boys LOVE to do) and we watched "Herbie: Fully Loaded"! It was cute and we all enjoyed it! Sunday evening we went to a birthday party for one of Gavin's classmates, at the pool! (Yes, we all swam!) Which brings us to today. Seriously...I knew about the immigration workers protest march, but I really didn't realize that it would actually affect us, personally. The phone must have rung five times this morning before 6:30! All from Bryan's work because his jobs kept canceling because no one had any workers! Go figure. So, there you have it...All (or most) of the excitement of the last few days! Oh! I almost forgot! Bryan's mom is "over seas" for a month. She left last week, but she just updated her blog! Check out what she's up to by clicking on her blog link ("Linda") to the right.
