A Trip to the Zoo!

Gavin's last field trip of first grade was yesterday...And I got to chaperone! It was very fun! (I had chaperoned all of Trevor's field trips, but none of Gavin's! Let's just say, that didn't go unnoticed!) This trip was to cap off their study of mammals. The kids just finished with their written and oral book reports last week. Gavin chose to do his report on lions! He did such a great job! He got 100%; A++!!! Unfortunately, by the time we found the real lions at the zoo, it was nap time (for the lions). Yes, I was in charge of the map. (Bryan, you can keep your comments to yourself! Ha!) This statue of "Aslan" (of course!) seemed to make him quite happy, though! All in all, it was a glorious day! We couldn't have asked for nicer weather, either! I was telling Bryan, a while back, that it must be so fun to be a kid and look forward to fun field trips! You see, I grew up in Wyoming... My field trip excitement consisted of an annual trip to the planetarium (which I actually did enjoy), a bus ride to the Oregon Trail (basically, a big field with wagon wheel tracks running through it), and of course, the hill in which Custer had his Last Stand! (Now, go find a rock to sit on and eat your sack lunch!) So, kids, enjoy these field trips and the memories you're creating! They're priceless!

Gavin looks like he had a fun time. I love going to the zoo, I haven't been in so long.
