Comments, Please!

Let's see if I can generate some comments! I would like to hear all of your opinions on the book/movie "The Da Vinci Code" and the surrounding controversy! And...GO! P.S. For excellent and extensive movie reviews, check out my link (to the right) for Plugged In Online. (I reference it a lot when considering movies for the kids.)

Did you watch it?

That's not an opinion! Ha! No, I have not seen it or read the book. (And probably won't.) Therefore, I don't have much information on which to base an opinion. I've seen a lot of hype in the media and I can kind of understand where both sides are coming from. I would just love to hear what other people think...especially anyone who has actually read the book or seen the movie. I'll weigh in in more detail later.

FYI; I didn't delete someone's opinion (I welcome them all)! I deleted my own comment that I messed up on! Ha!

Ok so I guess I will get things started!

For starters I have yet to read the book or see the movie. I do however want to do both. The movie really because I like Ron Howard and I love Tom Hanks.

As for all the controversy.....I think its abit overboard. Sometimes I really feel that both the catholic and christian church go overboard on things and make a bigger deal than they need to. Skeptics about christianity and the bible etc are always going to be skeptics. A movie isn't going to change that.

And as far as all of us a christians go a movie like that is not going to change what we believe or what we trust and have faith in.

I suppose I really have no good opinion because I have yet to even read the book.

It's a thing exactly like this that causes people to talk, especially when it's fact vs. fiction. What better way to get people to seek after the truth?!? We all know that when people seek the Truth (God), they will find Him, as the Word says.

Why not look for the positive in what seems to be a negative situation? I welcome the opportunity (and might even look for it) to talk with co-workers and friends, who might not know Him, about the real Jesus and what He is in my life.

I was just curious. I haven't seen it yet, so I don't have an oppinion. Seems to be a lot of talk around it.

If you have read the book the movie is a serious let down. The book is really well written. So good that its really hard to put it down.

I agree with Bryan that I think of this as a great opportunity for ministry to people who might not normally even think of Christianity. We have to remember that this book was written for FICTIONAL purposes not to say that Christianity is a falsehood.

If you really like a good suspenseful book the Davinci Code fits the bill.
