Fall Fest

Last Friday we took a break from school and decorated pumpkins. (Art day?)Trevor painted his like a rainbow.Gavin, of course, made Darth Vader, using his favorite medium: sharpie!Gavin and Trevor...I mean, Captain Rex and Ninja Turtle..? (In retrospect, I think Trevor looked more like an 80's glam rocker than a Ninja Turtle.)Kim and I went as twins! Can't you tell? We tried to get Zach and Bryan to go as twins, too. You can probably imagine how well that went over! Ha! Kim feeding Avery his first Nacho! (Relax...Just kidding! It's what we do. Hee hee!)"Mmmm...cheesey." Avery was such a good boy...being dressed as a chili pepper all night!
Gavin and Trevor riding the bull.
Nana with Gavin, Jafeth, Trevor and Sloan. (My mom was such a good sport to come along with us to Fall Fest! I think she was alphabet soup..?)
The boys (sans Avery): Jafeth, Justice, Cameron, Gavin, Trevor, and Sloan.

Four month old Avery pics...

Avery loves chewing on his fingers, lately. Also, whenever we pick him up he does a really high pitched (happy) squeal! I love it!

Follow-up to Wyoming/Halloween post...

(If you didn't read my "You know you're from Wyoming if..." post, scroll down.) I knew my mom would find the picture! I guess I was more of a fairy, of sorts, than an angel. Whatever. Darth Vader is my cousin, Ian. It's funny that Star Wars was "in" back then, too! And by the way, I also blame my mom for the hair. What's up with the short perm? (Love you, Mom!)

Crazy Cat!

We have been calling Smudge "The Keeper of the Stairs" because she doesn't like anyone to go upstairs ahead of her!
This is the corner of the office where I put boxes and other stuff I don't feel like unpacking, yet......And this is the cat's new favorite place to sleep!

You Know You're from Wyoming If...

Last night, when Bryan and I were trying to figure out Facebook together, I came across a "You Know You're From Wyoming If..." group. (Yes, I'm from Wyoming.) It was really funny, but my favorite one was: "You know you're from Wyoming if you design your Halloween costume to fit over a snow suit!" I laughed so hard I was crying, because it's so true! I specifically remember a year that my mom made me an angel costume but she made me wear it over my big puffy winter coat! I was so mad! I thought I looked ridiculous! (I was warm, though.) Remember, Mom? I know you have a picture somewhere. I think I was about Gavin's age. I can just imagine the drama if I tried to do that to him! Oy!

Big Boy, New Toy

Avery had his 3 and a half month check-up this week. He weighs 12 lb, 6 oz and is nearly 25 inches long. (He's in the 10-25th percentile for height and weight, which is dinky for a boy of mine!) When we got home we let him try out the exersaucer. He's still not quite sure what to think of it. He'll get the hang of it soon enough.

A Child's Prayer

It was Gavin's turn to pray before dinner last night. Of course, there was the standard "Thank you" and "Bless this food". But then there was, "Lord, please help mom remember to wash darks tomorrow. And whites." Amen.

Punkin' Patchin'

We went to the pumpkin patch yesterday with Grandma. I didn't actually get pictures of the boys picking out their pumpkins because it was at that moment that it started to down pour! Linda, Avery and I were hiding out in the barn! Once the rain subsided, we took a hayride around the corn maze. We decided it was a little too muddy to actually go in the maze, but fun was had by all!I love these pictures of Trevor on the tractor! He's such a nut!Nothing like sledding down a big pile of dirt!
At least, I hope it was dirt! Ha!Mmmmm...hot cocoa and curly fries! My littlest pumpkin!

Thoughtful One

Trevor has a gift for thinking of others. It blesses my heart! He always insists on sharing his food and if he is building something out of Legos, he makes one for everyone! More often than not, if we go somewhere and buy him a toy, we get home and he gives it away. ("Mom, I actually bought this for you!") If he earns a trip to the dollar store, I know he won't come home without something for his brother! My mom got him and Gavin each a stuffed animal when Avery was born. Wouldn't you know it, Trevor gave his to Avery. Yesterday, Trevor made his birthday/Christmas wish list. On it he has a few things you would expect to see on a boy's wish list. (Like all the things he saw on the most recent commercial break!) But he also has on his list: a green ball for Smudge, a rattle for Avery, bear slippers for Avery, a play set for Avery (??)... What a little sweety! (The other thing I was surprised to see on his list was "a map book"! What the..? My 7 year old wants an atlas for his birthday? I blame Bryan for that one. Ha!) So, I guess all that thoughtful cuteness makes up for his occasional straight forward comments. I was giving him a hug, yesterday, telling him how great he did practicing the piano... He said to me in his sweet little voice, "Mom, are you still pregnant a little bit? Just a little bit?" I honestly didn't know whether to laugh or cry! (I think I did both.) I guess it's time to start working on my abs! Thanks, Trevor!

"There she goes, taking pictures of me, again!"

Hockey Heaven

Gavin & Trevor Gavin Trevor Gavin & Trevor Last week, the boys got the opportunity to play ice hockey...for FREE!!* They were thrilled beyond belief! They LOVE hockey (like father, like sons) but they have never actually played on the ice before. (Just in our playroom, Grandma and Grandpa's basement, the cul de sac, etc.) I'll probably post more pictures later, as my brother took 170 pictures that I need to weed through!

*A local ice rink put on a free clinic, of sorts, for 5-10 year olds. They basically geared them all up and let them skate around and shoot pucks for a while. Awesome!

Viewer Descretion Advised

My fans have requested a picture of me playing tennis on vacation. I've also been asked to post my tennis story. Well, you asked for it, so here it goes... First, let me say, since you're probably looking ahead at the picture, I'm really not sure what made me decide that this outfit looked ok. Skinny mirrors in the cabin? Sure. There is no other explanation. Except maybe the fact that I just had a baby and I have no clothes that fit. There you have it. Stretchy shorts explained...but not excused! Speaking of clothes that don't quite fit, I also stuffed my monstrous nursing-mom self into my pre-pregnant sports bra! Not so much comfortable as it was effective. Moving on... Tennis was fun, for the most part. I love tennis! As you can see, I have great form! (Yeah, I'm terrible.) Do you now have a pretty picture in your head of what I must have looked like on the tennis court? Well, now imagine a bee flying at me and running into my aforementioned monstrous chest, as if it couldn't avoid it. Then, falling down my aforementioned sports bra and getting stuck there! (Who wouldn't?) Here's the real sight: I started screaming, jumping, dancing about, and practically tearing off my shirt! Trevor was on my side of the court, so I start yelling at him to help! He started hitting me with his racket and pulling at my shirt! After a few horrifying moments, the bee finally got free from it's cleavage trap, but not before it stung me on the boob! I was pretty traumatized by the whole experience. As was Trevor and a few unsuspecting, vacationing onlookers. Thank God Linda had Benadryl and I didn't need to nurse Avery for a while!
